DIGITAL NOMAD
HfM, Berlin, Germany, 2023
In the dance piece "Digital Nomad" three individuals portray the lifestyle of digital nomads. Through extensive research on Reddit, in the form of text selection, and by watching numerous YouTube videos, the play have focus on the dreams of people who carry a desire for experiences while simultaneously being accompanied by inner fear. It became clear after reading many texts and watching videos on social platforms that the digital nomad lifestyle comes with the consequence of being a voluntary outsider. Our intention is not to judge since we often do not know the reasons for their travels. Our focus is on observing, taking notes, and interpreting the information from the material. As this lifestyle is estimated to reach one billion people by 2050, we find the work extremely fascinating, especially in light of our own background from an individualistic society.
